Torah is Dead? Not According to 208 New Testament Verses

Apr 21, 2011 by     25 Comments    Posted under: Uncategorized

One of my favorite teachings that we all need to be aware of especially if we have people in our lives who are trying to tell us that the law is dead and Torah is only for the Jews.

208 verses!  208 verses in the New Testament that prove that the law is not dead and Torah is very relevant for our lives and our walk with the Messiah.  They go through each of the verses and I had to pause between each one and make notes in my Bible.  On many of them I even attached sticky notes in my Bible for these verses.  It took me about 3 days to go through it completely.

This is a MUST HAVE if you are debating those in the Christian church or family members that say the law is done away with.

When talking with believers who say that Torah is not relevant, I will always reply with the following.  “For every verse you give me in the NT that says that the law is done away with, I can give you 2-3 that says it’s not. So either there are a lot of contradictions in God’s word or there is a misunderstanding on someone’s part.  And since we can agree that God’s word doesn’t have contradictions in it, a misunderstanding is probably what we are dealing with.”

  • Podomatic seems to be having some loading issues as of late. The link still works fine on our end. I tested it just now on two different computers.

  • Thank you. Very informative.

  • We replaced the link with a player with the audio file. This should fix all issues. Enjoy!

    • i listened to it once, but now its telling me to get adobe flash player

  • I listened to the first four minutes and the speakers refer to two subdomain sites at podomatic.com. It would be so much easier to follow this study if those notes or links to those notes were included.

    • You’re right Bernie. I will probably make a point to go ahead and turn my notes with all these verses AND MORE into a blog post listing them all. Thanks!

  • Thank you a list would be so nice to have.I could print it and have it handy at all times

  • Can anyone find the list in the notes which they speak of??

  • I could not find the list of the 208… Could you please send it to me? Thank you.

    Sean Hilton.

    • Its the audio file. Listen and make notes while you listen.

  • HI ZACK
DO YOU HAVE A PRINT OUT LIST OF QUOTES “Torah is Dead? Not According to 208 New Testament Verses

  • A list of the verses would be nice. I have a ipad I can not use flash player 🙁 I really wanted to learn where all 208 verses are. Thank you for your hard work at Abbas heart 🙂

  • Can’t watch on Samsung tablet either. It would be nice if it was on your YouTube channel.

  • Hey Brother. I listened to a couple of your Youtube videos this last week. You are spot on! Keep up the good work. – Jason from Colorado Springs

  • I copied the verses down as they read them and I will now begin to research them. I’m glad I don’t have to listen to those guys anymore. I may be a stick in the mud but imho singing Hey Jude and acting like goof balls while trying to make a point about God’s Word to someone who needs to know is not in good taste. I’d rather have it to download and print out. I don’t know if they have anything to say after they got to Revelation 22:14 or not cause I couldn’t bear listening to them anymore and turned them off….

  • Thank you. I’ve been collecting my own list of NT vs that affirm the continuing Torah but I din’t get 208 yet! I like to read yours if at all possible since there is now to get your audio to work for what i have.

  • Hey everyone,

I need some advice. I have been saved since Jan. of 2009 and I am 21 years old.

My whole life I have been taught and told that the Law doesn’t apply to us Christians of today because we are under grace. Now I always believed that but something seemed wrong and things the church has taught me didn’t make sense with the Word once I read it.

The Word finally showed me the truth and I believe now that the all the Word of God applies to my life and it makes so much more sense now. I brought this to my pastor, who is also my girlfriend’s dad, and he became very frustrated and said “You won’t come into my church and tell my flock they can’t eat pork.” Among other words and it was very uncharacteristic of him because I have known him since before he was a pastor. I need some advice or some help on how to reach those in my small country area and bring the truth to them.

He said if I was going to follow the law then I need to sacrifice animals and I said well there isn’t a temple or a Levite priest around here and he would just shake his head.

I love the man and everyone in that church. I just think people believe what they’ve been taught and are confused about the Law of God. So, the Lord led me here. Would you help me?

  • Cody..unfortunately you will come upon people like this. They are blinded and refuse to see truth. I also went to my former pastor with these things. He did start eating clean but refused to preach on it. He said it was a personal decision. He even agreed with me on Sabbath as Saturday. I asked him why had church on Sunday then? His answer…”it is tradition.” I believe a lot of pastors are just afraid of losing the congregation which in turn means losing their paycheck but then some are just plain stiff necked and stubborn. Pray for the Holy Spirit to speak to them and heal their blindness. You keep walking out your faith and those who the Spirit is speaking to will come to you and start asking questions. Then you can share what the Spirit has taught you!!

  • I’m confused on #43. If we reference Lev. 20:10, that says we are to stone someone to death, wouldn’t that contradict “Do not murder?” the 6th commandment Moses gives? Even though Lev. 20:10 is torah? I’m new in understanding torah but it seems there’s many laws that don’t apply to today, or are contradictory and that’s why so many believers think the laws are done away with. Can you explain why some laws seem relevant while others would not?

    • Erin, murder is an act that comes from the heart. Stoning was their form of Capital punishment according to Torah. There is a whole list of requirements for a Stoning to take place. If people just started picking up rocks and throwing them at someone that would be murder. In fact, one of the 2 witnesses required to convict someone of a crime worthy of death was to cast the first stone.
